Can you compost old clothes?

For those of you who are already composting food and yard waste, have you ever considered composting old clothing or other fabric items? Maybe you have, but didn’t know if you could or how. We all end up with some worn out clothes. You know, the ones that are just too worn for donating. My pajama tops are usually my oldest most favorite t-shirt that has become too worn to wear in public. Think Swiss cheese, but in fabric. Picture sleeves hanging on for dear life. Why does organic cotton matter?

You care. You want to know that your purchases do in fact matter. So, I am letting you know, organic cotton does matter. Organic cotton conserves water, uses far less harmful chemicals and increases food security to the farmers (due to crop rotation). It also promotes biodiversity, maintains better soil health and reduces farmers’ exposure to harmful chemicals. Want to read more? I included links at the bottom of this post. Short skirts for Fall? Oh yea!

Fall is a great time to wear shorter skirts. The cool weather makes it comfortable to wear them over tights or leggings. You're not showing skin, and you can wear tights/leggings that smooth you from ankle to waist. And what could be more comfortable than a skirt over a pair of leggings? Thought you couldn’t shop at a boutique?

Think again. Before I started this business, I rarely shopped in boutiques. Maybe while on vacation, I might take a peak and look around, at best to get ideas for sewing projects. However, I just assumed that nothing would fit. And on the occasion when I get extra hopeful, the trip to the dressing room often proved me right.
