I am super excited to share with you my plans for the remainder of 2020. I am planning on a relaunch of EcoPetites! Read to the end to find out how you can get involved.
I have been trying for the last couple of years to work on my career path, assuming that EcoPetites would be relegated to a side-gig. I was doing too much and unwilling to let go of any one path out of fear. But I finally decided to shut other doors and go full swing into this business. I made another change as well: a dedication to working 40 hours a week. This is something I have not done since the arrival of my first child 14 years ago. I decided I was ready, sat the kids down and told them what that would mean. I’m working from home, in the living room of our tiny apartment, so that meant setting some boundaries around my work time and the need for them to function a little more independently, even if I am sitting 10 feet away.
At first, they were encouraging and claimed they didn’t mind the increased expectations. But as my practice of working 40-hr weeks became our new reality, they balked, which is actually what I was expecting. Kids don’t like change, especially ones who come into the family via adoption. Yet, being kids, they change so fast and so much of their world changes along with it as they progress through the years. It’s a funny paradox, isn’t it?
We’ve come around to a good comfortable routine now. However, I tease them that I now have two micromanagers. They look over my shoulder, watch instructional videos with me, want to know what I’m working on and ask who I’m talking to. They pepper me with all kinds of question about the point of what I’m doing. Now that so many people are working from home, it’s interesting that these kids now have so much more insight into what we adults do when we are working then we ever got to witness. I wonder what will come of that.
What I am experiencing is a boon is my ability to get things done. Which means that I am able to refocus and re-envision what EcoPetites is about. This is why you’ve been seeing me post about the “why” behind EcoPetites. I’m reacquainting myself with the purpose and values behind why I started this brand. You are getting to see those again, or maybe for the first time.
Incredibly, the most amazing things keep happening. For example, I was thinking about who I would reach out to if I got busy and needed help. I thought of one person in particular, ran into her for the first time in months, and she volunteered to work for my business—before I said anything about it! I thought about living in a particular complex so I would have more space to work from home. A townhome there went on the market the next day (and I got it!). I realized I need to learn more about marketing, and the exact class I hoped to find showed up in my IG feed—I’m registered, and it is awesome.
I could go on! It has been really remarkable that once I found the bravery to shut other doors and be fully engaged on one path, the universe seems to be liberally tossing opportunities my way. That’s not to say this is easy, but it is certainly invigorating.
What does this mean for you? I am working on improving the functionality and ease of my website. You will see gradual changes there. I’ve been reaching out to past customers for feedback interview, which has been incredibly insightful. This feedback will be the backbone of my improvements so I can deliver and improve on what you actually want. I’m hoping to have better ways of attracting new customers and hope to make good sales thought the end of the year. The amount that I sell this fall with then determine how many new items I produce for the spring, which means more and better options for you.
So, get ready for my relaunch. I’m ready to serve you and I’m on fire!
How can you get involved? One of my more immediate goals is to interview potential customers and include a few more existing customer interviews. If you have been following me but have not become a customer, or maybe you know someone who might want to give it a try and is willing to be interviewed, I would love it if you would talk to me! I am offering a $25 gift card in exchange for this informational interview, which would take about 45 minutes. I am grateful to those of you who took the time for an interview already.
Use the calendar below to schedule a time with me. This calendar will be accessible though the end of September (booking into October).
I look forward to chatting with you! Either in the interviews or through social media interactions. Bye, for now!
