You already have a great camera — right in your pocket. But the difference between a quick snapshot and a photo that really tells a story isn’t just about tapping the screen — it’s about learning how to see.
In this friendly, hands-on workshop, artist and sustainable fashion designer Daphne Orlando shares insights from over 20 years as a professional illustrator and photographer. You’ll learn how to:
-
Frame a shot so others see your pet the way you do
-
Find the best angle to flatter (and capture personality)
-
Use natural light for beautiful, soft images
-
Recognize and build on what’s already working in your shots with basic editing
-
Choose the details and moments that tell the story you want to remember
Whether your goal is Instagram-worthy portraits, meaningful keepsakes, or simply better everyday shots, you’ll leave with practical skills—and a new way to look at your furry (or feathered) friends.
All demos will use an iPhone, but the principles apply to any smartphone camera. DIrections for android phones will be provided. Bring your phone and a few of your favorite (or most frustrating) pet photos to practice on. But leave your actual pets at home, please.
Class starts promptly at 6 pm. You may bring your own dinner and eat in the room starting at 5:30 while I set up. There are also outdoor picnic tables just outside the building.
A small number of parking spots are available on site, and there is free street parking as well. The building is handicap accessible.
