You already have a great camera — right in your pocket. But the difference between a quick snapshot and a photo that really tells a story isn’t just about tapping the screen — it’s about learning how to see.
In this friendly, hands-on workshop, artist and sustainable fashion designer Daphne Orlando shares insights from over 20 years as a professional illustrator and photographer. You’ll learn how to:
-
Frame a shot so others see to set a tone
-
Find the best angle to flatter (and avoid or work with distortion)
-
Use natural light for beautiful, soft images
-
Recognize and build on what’s already working in your shots with basic editing
-
Choose the details and moments that tell the story you want to remember
Whether your goal is Instagram-worthy portraits, social media matierial, meaningful keepsakes, or simply better everyday shots, you’ll leave with practical skills—and a new way to look at the world around you.
All demos will use an iPhone, but the principles apply to any smartphone camera. DIrections for android phones will be provided. Bring your phone and a few of your favorite (or most frustrating) photos to practice on.
Class starts promptly at 6 pm. You may arrive starting at 5:45 pm.
There is free street parking, and a lot across the street you may use after business hours, also for free.
